If you're looking for something simple to make for a Memorial Day or Fourth of July picnic or party, look no further than this easy s'mores dip!
This sweet warm dessert is always a favorite.
Why You'll Love This Recipe
- Quick and easy. Just 10 minutes for assembly and 15 minutes of bake time.
- Doesn't need to be refrigerated. In the heat of summer, it can be difficult to find desserts that won't melt in the sun. The 4th of July S'mores dip can sit out for a few hours - no problem!
- Perfect for picnics and potlucks. It travels well, so you can make it at home, then bake or reheat it when you're ready to serve.

Ingredients
- large square marshmallows: These are much larger than regular marshmallows, and they are square rather than round. The ultimate marshmallows to toast over a campfire for s'mores, too!
- chocolate chips: Feel free to use semi-sweet, bittersweet, or even dark chocolate chips.
- red spray food coloring: Be sure to use food-safe coloring!
- blue spray food coloring
- graham crackers: These will be for dipping. Obviously, graham crackers are the traditional choice for s'mores dip. You can substitute them with chocolate grahams or use something different, like whipped shortbread cookies.
You'll also need a glass 9x13-inch baking dish.
How to Make 4th of July S'mores Dip
Summary only. The complete recipe instructions are in the card at the bottom of this post ⬇️

- Create the blue marshmallows.

- Create the red marshmallows.

- Layer chocolate in the baking dish.

- Add marshmallows and bake.
Liz's Tips for the Best Dip
- Add coarse sugar. For a more patriotic look, add some blue sanding sugar or blue sprinkles over the blue marshmallows while they're warm. This adds a sparkle to the star portion of the flag. Red sprinkles would be a nice patriotic addition, too!
- Spray the marshmallows after baking. You can attempt to free hand spray the marshmallows when they are warm out of the oven. This will allow them to be a bit softer, but the color won't be as vibrant.
- If the chocolate starts to harden and becomes difficult to dip into, you can place the s'mores dip back in the oven for a couple of minutes. Alternatively, you can scoop out portions and reheat them in the microwave for a few seconds at a time.

Storing
Storage: I recommend enjoying this when it's fresh and warm from the oven. If you are going to assemble it in advance, cover it well and keep it in a dry location at room temperature.
Can I make this ahead of time? You can put it together ahead of time, but you can’t bake it ahead of time. The chocolate will harden and you’ll have to reheat it when it’s time to serve it.

4th of July S'mores Dip FAQ
The best chocolate is the kind that melts easily. It doesn’t take much to cook a marshmallow, which means you need a chocolate that melts just as quickly. For the best results, use chocolate chips, or break chocolate bars into small pieces.
