Liz's Tips for the Best Oreo Krispie Treats
- Use low heat. Melting the marshmallows slowly is the key to soft and gooey crispy treats.
- Crush the Oreo cookies to your liking. For a more intense cookies & cream flavor, finely crush them; for more crunch, leave some bigger chunks.
- Include mini marshmallows for extra gooeyness. Just stir ½ cup of whole mini marshmallows into the mixture before pressing into the pan.
- Use parchment paper when pressing the mixture into the pan. It prevents sticking and helps you to spread the mixture out evenly.
- Let them cool completely before cutting. This is the best way create clean, sharp squares.
- For an extra rich cookies and cream dessert, drizzle the top of the squares with melted white chocolate!
How to Keep No Bake Bars Fresh and Soft
Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. To keep them extra soft, add a slice of bread to the container

FAQs
Marshmallow creme is a great substitute for melted marshmallows Krispie treats. However, because this is a microwave Rice Krispies treats recipe, you'll want to reduce the microwave power to around 70%.
Yes! You can substitute 5 cups of mini marshmallows for the 40 regular size marshmallows in the recipe.
Don’t overheat the marshmallows. Melting them too quickly affects the consistency, which can make the treats hard. Also, use fresh marshmallows—stale ones don’t melt as well. Lastly, press the mixture gently into the pan—don’t pack it too tightly.
Absolutely! For a fun twist, make this recipe with Golden Oreos, Lemon Oreos, Mint Oreos, or Birthday Cake Oreos.
