Using an electric hand mixer and large mixing bowl, or in the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, cream together the butter and sugar on high speed. Combine until mixture is smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes. You want to make sure that there are no clumps of butter or sugar remaining.
Add vanilla extract and salt, and mix again to incorporate.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and baking soda to combine Slowly incorporate the flour mixture into your creamed sugar in thirds, ensuring all the flour is incorporated before adding more.
If your dough appears too dry, add a dash of milk to moisten it until the dough is firm, but not crumbly.
Place three to four balls of cookie dough in preheated air fryer basket and cook for 9 minutes.
Allow cookies to cool. If desired, spread with your favorite store-bought or homemade cookie frosting, add sprinkles, and enjoy!
Notes
Depending on the size of your air fryer basket and the size cookies you want, you may be able to cook up to four or five cookies at a time. However, it is important to avoid crowding the air fryer basket to ensure that the cookies brown properly. Additionally, giving the cookies as much space as possible will help prevent them from spreading together.
